Ellicott City Soccer Club joins Headers for Hope
for 2015!

The Ellicott City Soccer Club is proud to support the Headers for Hope tournament to benefit the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, slated for April 18th. City has teamed up with Headers for Hope (HFH) and the Ryerson Soccer Tournament Series (RSTS) to provide support for this dual tournament event which will showcase the following local NCAA Division 1 Women’s programs: UMBC, Loyola, Navy, George Mason, William & Mary and Maryland, while also highlighting the top Region 1 club teams at the u15 Girls age group.  This “true showcase” allows the top colleges to recruit a very talented group of girls representing Region 1 at the same location on the same day. The u15 tournament will be two days, (4/18 and 4/19), and will allow each team to play one game in front of the captive audience of D1 coaches on Saturday with round robin games wrapping up on Sunday.

The 2015 HFH event will be held at Glenelg Country School (GCS) in Ellicott City, Maryland. “In an effort to support the Ulman Cancer Fund and the ongoing fight against Cancer in young adults, GCS has donated premium field space for this great cause. GCS has a state of the art facility with brand new stadium seating and a modern press box situated directly between a new turf field and a Bermuda grass infused field, making it the ideal location for this event. GCS is the place to showcase local NCAA Division 1 Women’s programs while also ensuring matches will be played in any weather on top notch surfaces” claims Tim Ryerson.

The Headers for Hope event will be operated by Howard County soccer legend, Louise Waxler, and current Executive Director for Ellicott City SC, Tim Ryerson. As one of the Ryerson Soccer Tournament Series events slated for 2015, RSTS will help execute a true college showcase as college teams will participate in spring matches on a parallel field as the u15 Headers for Hope Girls u15 College Showcase.

“Just visualize six top college teams playing a one day spring training round robin with matches right beside potential future players, each trying to impress the other coaches waiting for their games to kickoff. From the first time I set my eyes on the GCS campus I dreamed of such events happening at the facility. It is a hidden gem much like the Chapelgate Christian Academy Stadium grass field I discovered prior to the launch of Ellicott City SC. This event will expose potential student athletes to both GCS and these major local universities all the while, benefitting the Ulman Cancer Fund, I say it is a win regardless of what happens on the field!” For more information regarding the Headers for Hope Girls u15 College Showcase, please email info@ellicottcitysc.org for tickets or further information to the college games, please see the event website: www.headersforhope.org .
