Soccer News Net Partners with HFH

Headers For Hope has been selected as the official charity partner of the Soccer News Net College Boot award, recognizing the men’s and women’s college player of the year.

As the official charity, Headers For Hope will be integrated into the promotion and voting for the annual player of the year selection, which is conducted through online fan balloting on all six of Soccer News Net’s regional web sites.

Launched in 2007, the Soccer News Net Player of the Year Award annually honors the best men’s and women’s college players with the help of college soccer fans across the country, who can vote for their favorite players. Over the past two years, some 1 million votes have been cast.

Previous winners of the award include Amy Rodriguez (USC 2007), Casey Nogueira (North Carolina 2008), Teal Bunbury (Akron 2009) and Kelly O’Hara (2010).

"With the great response from colleges across the country and college soccer fans to our voting program over the past few years, we thought this would be a good opportunity to partner with a worthy charity that serves the soccer community," said Sports Vue CEO Charles Cuttone. "We hope, by sharing this space with Headers For Hope, to help introduce them to the soccer community and provide them with a platform for their fundraising efforts."

Headers For Hope is a non-profit organization that was established in honor of every individual who has been diagnosed with cancer; every family member who has held the hand of their loved one being treated for cancer; and all friends acting as a support system to someone who has been told the news they have cancer.

Headers For Hope founder and longtime soccer sports industry veteran Louise Waxler created the Foundation in loving memory of her good friend, who passed away after her two-year battle with this deadly disease. By combining her passion for sports and her passion for helping those win their fight against cancer, Headers For Hope was born.

“We are truly grateful that Headers for Hope has been chosen as the official charity partner of the Soccer News Net College Player of the Year Award,” said Headers for Hope Founder Louise Waxler.

Waxler adds, “This annual award is a great way to recognize college athletes within soccer who dedicate their time and effort. Each player strives to succeed, not only for themselves and their team, but for the passion of the game. Headers for Hope gives those who participate in sports an opportunity to play the game they love, while giving back to their community for a good cause."

Headers for Hope works with tournaments and teams across the country and within each sport to raise money through events, which is donated back to their chosen local cancer charity or organization.
