Our headers are made to order for the customers cylinder head and deck height. It can be made in any tube size UP TO 2 ½” with any collector size UP TO 5” or our race collector mufflers in any size UP TO a 6” diameter.

What Fits:
On your steering column the upper U joint will have to be 4” from the firewall to the center of the U joint. This header was designed to fit TCIs rectangular front clip and their new round tube front clip. If our 6” collector mufflers are used you may have to trim the pinch rail on the floor sub frame. We designed this header with the engine in the stock position as TCI has set it up. It will clear side motor mounts as well as motor plates. Almost any mini starter will fit except a Mezier #400 and a full sized GM starter will not fit.
Because the frame rails on the TCI chassis are moved inward 1” on each side, we had to take 2 tubes around the frame on both sides. This allowed us to get the best possible ground clearance, oil pan room and spark plug access. Our design car had fairly narrow tires (approximately) about 6”wide (See photos) and we still had good tire clearance from the frame. A 7” to 7 ½” tire should clear depending on the wheel offset. Ground clearance is excellent, our design header was a 2 ½” primary size and the bottom of the header was even with the bottom of a stock oil pan. With smaller tube size the header will gain ground clearance. We kept the header as far away from the oil pan as possible for oil pan sump kick outs. On the driver side we have 3 ½” of room and on the passenger side we have 3” of room. If the sump kick out is under the oil filter, the filter will be trapped. We recommend a Milodon #30951 or #30956 or a Moroso #20408 oil pans for easy access to the filter.
The steering column upper U joint will have to be 4” from the firewall to the center of the U joint. This header will fit a power brake booster, but will not fit Factory air conditioning box on the firewall, factory clutch linkage or column shifter linkage. If you are using inner fenderwell panels they will have to be trimmed for header clearance. Install the headers first, then trim the panels to fit.

You can keep your column shifter, but you will have to use aftermarket shifter linkage from Lokar or I Did It, they both offer mechanical linkage as well as a cable shifter system.

We offer a chrome moly transmission cross member for a short tail shaft TH400 transmission.

Installation:
The passenger side tubes can be installed with the engine, spark plugs and starter in place. Install the tubes in this order, #4 from the bottom, #2 from the bottom, #6 and #8 from the top. Only snug all header bolts until the collector is installed then tighten all bolts.
The driver side can be installed with the engine and steering column in place. Install the tubes from front to back.

Note:
It is important to read our (Header Installation Tips) page before installing your new Lemons Headers, it will make the installation go smother and save you time.

#BBR-530 – ‘62-’67 CHEVY II BIG BLOCK – BB Race header for stock chassis (fenderwell) https://lemonsheaders.com/product/bbr-530-bb-race-header-for-stock-chassis-fenderwell/ Wed, 14 Dec 2022 00:59:48 +0000 https://lemonsheaders.com/product/bbr-530-bb-race-header-for-stock-chassis-fenderwell/ Header Specs:

This header is design for any tube size up to 2 ½” with any collector size up to 5” or our collector mufflers up to a 6” size. This design is for a stock chassis with a stock steering box. It requires trimming the shock towers back to make room for the front tubes and cutting the fender wells behind the shock towers. The collectors are mounted under the floor boards facing back, this allowed us to gain as much front tire clearance as possible. The top of the collectors are ½” to ¾” from the floor board. It is best to position the engine with the headers installed for best possible fit. Every thing is critical with these big tube sizes, tire clearance, fire wall and floor boards.
This header is not intended for air conditioning, column shifter linkage or clutch linkage.

Header Installation:

We build this header with individual tubes and slip on collectors for easier installation. Install the tubes on both sides starting from front to back. Don’t tighten the header bolts until all tubes are in and the collectors are installed then tighten all the header bolts.
Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional instructions.

#BBR-531 – ‘62-’67 CHEVY II BIG BLOCK – BB Race header for Chris Alston front clip https://lemonsheaders.com/product/bbr-531-bb-race-header-for-chris-alston-front-clip/ Wed, 14 Dec 2022 00:59:48 +0000 https://lemonsheaders.com/product/bbr-531-bb-race-header-for-chris-alston-front-clip/ Header Specs:

This header is designed for any tube size up to 2 ½” with any collector size up to 5” or our collector mufflers up to a 6” size. It will fit Alston’s side motor mounts or motor plates. The engine must stay in the correct position. This design has 2 tubes on each side that go around the frame. This allowed us to get the best possible ground clearance, oil pan room and spark plug access. Any mini starter will fit a full size GM starter will not fit. With skinny drag type front tires they will clear the header tubes, with big tires on offset wheels they will rub the tubes. The oil filter is accessible even with a typical 7 quart oil pan with bottom sump kick outs. Measuring from the side of a stock oil pan we have 2 ¾” on the passenger side and 4” of room on the driver side for large oil pans.
The steering column must be installed per Alston’s instructions. This header will fit a power brake booster, but is not intended for air conditioning, column shifter linkage or clutch linkage. If you are using Alston’s inner fender panels they will have to be trimmed to clear the tubes around the frame. Install the headers first then trim the panels to fit.

Header Installation:

This header is designed with individual tubes and slip on collectors. Install the tubes on both sides starting from front to back. The 2 back tubes on each side are the ones that go around the frame. Only snug the header bolts until the collectors are installed then go back and tighten all the bolts. Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional instructions.

#BBR-532 – ‘62-’67 CHEVY II BIG BLOCK – BB Race header for Heidts front clip https://lemonsheaders.com/product/bbr-532-bb-race-header-for-heidts-front-clip/ Wed, 14 Dec 2022 00:59:48 +0000 https://lemonsheaders.com/product/bbr-532-bb-race-header-for-heidts-front-clip/ Header Specs:

This header is designed for any tube size up to 2 ½” with any collector size up to 5” or our collector mufflers up to a 6” size. All of the tubes are inside the frame with good ground clearance and spark plug access. Our design header was done with the largest tube size available and the bottom of the header was about ¾” below the bottom of a stock oil pan, smaller tube sizes will gain ground clearance. Measuring from the side of a stock oil pan we have 1 ¾” at the top of the pan and 2 ¼” of room at the bottom of the pan on the passenger side with 2 7/8” of room on the driver side for an oil pan sump kick out. With no kick out on the driver side of the pan the oil filter is accessible, but if the pan kick out is under the filter it will be trapped. We designed the header using a Hitachi starter a full size GM starter will not fit. The header will fit side motor mounts or motor plates, but the engine must stay in the stock location.
It will fit Heidt’s inner fender well panels and up to a 9” power brake booster, but is NOT intended for factory style air conditioning, clutch linkage or column shifter linkage.

Header Installation:

We build our race headers with individual tubes and slip on collectors for easier installation. If we are building your header as all one piece in the pro-tour style then the header will have to be installed as the engine is being installed with the steering column removed.
To install the header with individual tubes remove the starter, oil filter, spark plugs and steering column between the 2 “U” joints. On both sides install the tubes from front to back leaving the header bolts loose so the tubes can move freely until all tubes are installed then snug the header bolts, but don’t tighten them until the collectors are installed then go back and tighten all the bolts.
Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional instructions.

#BBR-533 – ‘62-’67 CHEVY II BIG BLOCK – BB Race header for Smith Race Craft front clip https://lemonsheaders.com/product/bbr-533-bb-race-header-for-smith-race-craft-front-clip/ Wed, 14 Dec 2022 00:59:48 +0000 https://lemonsheaders.com/product/bbr-533-bb-race-header-for-smith-race-craft-front-clip/ Header Specs:

This header is designed for any tube size up to 2 ½” and any collector size up to 5” or collector muffler size up to 6”. This chassis has had some design changes over the years so we will need to determine the version you have. The header has 2 tubes inside the frame and 2 tubes around the frame. If you are using inner fender well panels they will have to be trimmed. This design gave us a lot of room for large oil pans plus starter and oil filter access. Measuring from the side of a stock oil pan we have over 4” of room on each side. On our design car we used a Milodon low profile oil pan #30950 and with a
2 ½” header the bottom of the header was ¾” below the oil pan. Smaller tube sizes will gain ground clearance.

The engine must be in same location that SRC set the chassis up for using their motor plates. Any mini starter will fit a full size GM starter will not fit. The steering column must be installed per SRC instructions. Spark plug access is excellent.

This header will not fit a factory air conditioning box on the firewall, factory column shifter linkage or clutch linkage.

Header Installation:

These headers can be installed with the engine in place and you will not have to remove the starter or oil filter.
Driver side, to install start from front to back #1, #3, #5 then #7
Passenger side, #8 first then #2, #4, #6 the rear header bolt will be hard to get to.
Only snug the header bolts don’t tighten them until you install the collectors then go back and tighten the header bolts.
See our header installation tip’s page for additional information.

This header is designed for any tube size up to 2 ½” with any collector size up to 5” or our collector mufflers in any size up to 6”. The back tube on each side goes around the chassis for added oil pan clearance there may be some tire interference at a full turn. Measuring from the side of a stock oil pan we have 4” on the passenger side and 4 ¼” on the driver side of space for large sump kick outs or dry sump oil systems. This also allows for easy access to the oil filter and starter. This header requires a mini starter. Ground clearance is very good the bottom of the header is about ¾” below the bottom of a stock oil pan. Spark plug access is very good. The header is designed for AJE side motor mounts or motor plates but the motor needs to stay in the stock location. The steering column must be installed per AJE instructions.
This header is NOT intended to fit air conditioning, clutch linkage, power brake booster or column shifter linkage.

Header Installation:

This design is built with individual tubes and a slip on collector making it very easy to install. On both sides start from front to back installing one tube at a time, only snug the header bolt as you go until the collector is installed then go back and tighten all the header bolts.
Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional information.
