This header is available in any tube size up to 2” with a 3 ½” collector. All of our headers are hand made so we can make them for any engine deck height and for any aftermarket cylinder head. All of the tubes are inside the frame and the header has excellent ground clearance. We used a Milodon oil pan #30900 to design with and the bottom of the header was ½” higher than the bottom of the oil pan. The available room for an oil pan kick out sump is 3” on the passenger side and 4” on the driver side, measuring from the side of a stock oil pan. The oil filter was easily removed even with the 1 ½” kick out on the Milodon pan.

The steering column must be installed per the chassis builders instructions for clearance with the header. Our design fits side motor mounts or motor plates and the front sway bar kit. It has good spark plug room, some spark plugs can be easily removed with a socket and an extension some will require a socket and end wrench.

This header will fit a power brake booster, but will NOT fit clutch linkage or column shifter linkage. ( ask Dan about clutch linkage ) It requires a mini starter, Hitachi or Nippondenso style a full sized GM starter will not fit. If a Lakewood style scatter shield is used you will have to slightly trim the outer edge below the starter.

We offer Power Master #9540 starters.

Header Installation:

Driver side, remove the spark plugs, oil filter and the center section of the steering column between the “U” joints. You do not have to raise the engine, the header will install from the bottom.

Passenger side, remove the spark plugs and starter. You do not have to raise the engine, the header will install from either the top or the bottom. Before bolting the header in place reinstall the starter.

Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional information.

#SBR-125 – ‘62-’67 CHEVY II SMALL BLOCK – SB Race header for stock chassis (fenderwell) https://lemonsheaders.com/product/sbr-125-sb-race-header-for-stock-chassis-fenderwell/ Wed, 14 Dec 2022 01:01:35 +0000 https://lemonsheaders.com/product/sbr-125-sb-race-header-for-stock-chassis-fenderwell/ Header Specs:

This header is available in any tube size up to 2 ¼” with any collector size up to 4” or our collector muffler up to a 5” size. The stock steering system forced us to design this header as a fender well style, but we kept the back tubes inside the frame for added tire room. These tubes turn under the frame and meet up with the collector facing back under the floor board. Because of #8 tube inside the frame a Hitachi style starter is required.
The shock towers and fender wells will need to be cut for header clearance (refer to pictures) Spark plug access is excellent. It has good front tire room but is intended for drag type skinny tires. The top of the collector is about 5/8” from the floor board for maximum ground clearance.

This header is not intended for air conditioning, clutch linkage or column shifter linkage.

Header Installation:

This header is made with individual tubes and slip on type collectors. Once the fender wells and shock towers have been trimmed for fit the header will be easy to install. You will have to remove the lower half of the fender well panel behind the shock tower. Once this opening is made you can hold the front tube in its approximate position this will give you an idea where the shock tower will have to be trimmed. Once the shock tower is trimmed to fit you can plate the opening back in for appearance and structural strength. Install the tubes from front to rear. Do not tighten the header bolts until the collector has been installed then go back and tighten all the bolts.
Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional information.

#SBR-126 – ‘62-’67 CHEVY II SMALL BLOCK – SB Race header for Chris Alston’s Chassisworks front clip. Also for Heidts, Martz & Checkered Racing front clips. https://lemonsheaders.com/product/sbr-126-sb-race-header-for-chris-alstons-chassisworks-front-clip-also-for-heidts-martz-checkered-racing-front-clips/ Wed, 14 Dec 2022 01:01:35 +0000 https://lemonsheaders.com/product/sbr-126-sb-race-header-for-chris-alstons-chassisworks-front-clip-also-for-heidts-martz-checkered-racing-front-clips/ Header Specs:

This header is available in any tube size up to 2 ¼” with a 4” collector or a 5” collector muffler. Designed for the Alston front clip it will fit side motor mounts or motor plates and the front sway bar kit. The steering column must be installed per Alston’s installation manual. Because of the large tube size this header was designed for we run the 2 center tubes on each side around the frame. This allowed us to keep plenty of oil pan room. Measuring out from the bottom of a stock oil pan we have 4 ½” of room on the driver side and 3 5/8” of room on the passenger side. The oil pan we used on our design car was a Milodon # 30900 which has a 1 ½” kick out on each side and we could still get the oil filter in and out. This header requires a mini starter, either a Hitachi style or a Nippondenso style. A full size GM starter will not fit.

We offer Power Master #9540 starters.

This design has very good spark plug room, some of the plugs can be removed with a socket and extension and some will require a socket and an end wrench. Ground clearance on both sides is excellent. The design header ( 2 ¼” tube size ) was ¼” below the Milodon pan, smaller tube and collector sizes will have more ground clearance.
This header will not fit factory air conditioning, clutch linkage or column shifter linkage.
Header Installation:

Because of the tubes around the frame we use our slip on type race collectors. The sequence for installing the headers is the same for both sides. With the engine in place install the front tube first from the bottom, then the rear tube from the bottom and last the center tubes which go around the frame. With the header bolts snug but not tight, install the collectors, bolt them on then tighten the header bolts. Installation is way too easy!
Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional information.

#SBR-127 – ‘62-’67 CHEVY II SMALL BLOCK – SB Race header for Smith Race Craft front clip https://lemonsheaders.com/product/sbr-127-sb-race-header-for-smith-race-craft-front-clip/ Wed, 14 Dec 2022 01:01:35 +0000 https://lemonsheaders.com/product/sbr-127-sb-race-header-for-smith-race-craft-front-clip/ Header Specs:

This header is designed for any tube size up to 2 ¼” with up to a 4” collector size, or up to a 5” collector muffler size. The design has 2 tubes inside the frame and 2 tubes around the frame on each side. This chassis has had some design changes over the years we will have to determine which version you have. The engine needs to be on SRC motor plates in the correct position with the steering column installed per SRC instructions.
Oil pan clearance is excellent with over 4” of room on both sides, measuring from the side of a stock oil pan. We used a Milodon #30900 oil pan on our design car and with a
2 ¼” tube size the bottom of the header was ¼” lower than the bottom of the oil pan. Smaller tube sizes would gain more ground clearance. The header requires a mini starter, either a Hitachi or Nippondenso style. A full size GM starter will not fit. Spark plug access is excellent.

We offer Power Master #9540 starters.

This header is intended for race vehicles only it will not fit factory air conditioning, column shifter linkage or clutch linkage.
Header Installation:

With the engine, oil filter and starter all in place install both sides in the same sequence. Front tube first then the rear tube then the center tubes which are the two around the frame. Only snug the header bolts, don’t tighten them until the collectors are installed then go back and tighten the header bolts. These headers are way too easy to install.
Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional information.

#SBR-128 – ‘62-’67 CHEVY II SMALL BLOCK – SB Race header for TCI front clip https://lemonsheaders.com/product/sbr-128-sb-race-header-for-tci-front-clip/ Wed, 14 Dec 2022 01:01:35 +0000 https://lemonsheaders.com/product/sbr-128-sb-race-header-for-tci-front-clip/ Header Specs:
This header is designed to fit TCI’s rectangular tube chassis or their new round tube chassis. Our headers are made to order for the customers cylinder head and deck height. It can be made in any tube size up to 2 ¼” with any collector size up to 4” or our race collector mufflers in any size up to 5”.

What Fits:
We designed this header with the engine in the stock position as TCI had set it up. The header will fit side motor mounts, Poly or solid as well as motor plates. The engine must stay in the stock position. This header will fit with a Hitachi style mini starter only, we used a Tilton starter to design with.
Because the frame rails on the TCI chassis are moved inward 1” on each side, this created some challenges in designing a large tube header. The front and back tubes are inside the frame with the two center pair going around the frame on both sides, (see photos). This allowed us to get the best possible ground clearance, oil pan room and spark plug access. Our design car had fairly narrow front tires and we had plenty of tire room at full turn.
A 7” to 7 ½” tire should have room depending on the wheel offset. Ground clearance is excellent, the bottom of our 2 ¼” design header was slightly below the “K” member. Smaller tube sizes will gain ground clearance. (see photo)
We kept the header as far away from the oil pan as possible for kick out sumps. On the driver side we have 3 ¾” of room and on the passenger side we have 3 ¼” of room. If the pan kick out is under the oil filter it will be trapped.
On your steering column the upper U joint will have to be 4” from the fire wall to the center of the U joint. This header will fit a power brake booster, but will not fit factory air conditioning, clutch linkage or column shifter linkage. If you are using inner fenderwell panels they will have to be trimmed for header clearance. Install the headers first then trim the panels to fit.
We offer a transmission cross member for a short tail shaft TH 400 transmission.

Installation:
The passenger side tubes can be installed with the engine and starter in place.
Install #8 from the bottom, then #2 from the bottom, then #4 and #6 go around the frame. Only snug the header bolts until the collector is installed then tighten all bolts.
The driver side can be installed with the engine and steering column in place.
Install #7 from the bottom, then #1 from the bottom, then #3 and #5 go around the frame.
Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional information.
